The developer of PSS Field Kit is also a long-range precision shooting instructor, Director of PRS Italy from 2023 to 2026, and author of the first book on PRS published in Italy. Every feature of the app comes from there: from the firing line, not from a desk.
From flying to shooting: the same method, built on clear procedures and verified numbers.
Many years as an Airline Captain, flight instructor and examiner, Chief Pilot and Director of Flight Operations. That is where the checklist habit, the rigor in calculations and the way of teaching come from.
More than one hundred podium finishes in PRS centerfire and rimfire matches and military sniper matches. In the PRS / DLR rimfire championship: overall winner in 2022, 2023 and 2024, third in 2025.
Director of PRS Italy from December 2023 to October 2026. With DLR he helped grow the Precision Rifle Series in Italy, from an idea to a circuit with clear rules, a calendar and national championships. He organized the first final of the PRS Pro Series European Championship and opened the way for the best Italian shooters to reach the finals in the United States. At the end of the season he stepped down as director to focus on new projects. He is president of ASD DLR – Dynamic Long Range (an Italian amateur sports association), which continues the training and coaching activity.
Instructor at DLR Academy, holding the Diploma Nazionale OPES (national instructor diploma issued by OPES) within the Sistema Nazionale delle Qualifiche Sportive del CONI (the Italian Olympic Committee's national sports qualification framework): Formatore nel tiro a lunga distanza PRS (PRS long-range shooting trainer) and Formatore-Esaminatore nel tiro operativo e di precisione a lunga distanza (trainer and examiner in operational and long-range precision shooting). He has co-directed courses and refresher training for designated marksmen of the Italian Army, the Italian Navy, the Italian Air Force and the Carabinieri.
Tester and validator of a professional ballistic software for military and police use, where he is listed in the credits. PSS Field Kit grew out of this experience and of years of spreadsheets used in the field.

The first book on PRS published in Italy, with an outstanding preface. Read it below ↓
PRS — Precision Rifle Series — is today the fastest-growing precision shooting discipline in the world. Every stage is different: often awkward positions, limited time, multiple targets at very different distances, and environmental conditions that change from one minute to the next. In this sport, shooting well is only the starting point.
This book shares a path built on years of competition and direct experience in the field, and answers a concrete question: what do you really need to know to approach PRS with method, from choosing your equipment to managing a stage on match day? Inside you will find practical answers on rifle and accessory setup, dry-fire and live-fire training, wind reading and external ballistics, all the way to the rules that govern every match.
A manual for those taking their first steps in PRS who want to start with the right foundations, and for those who already compete and are looking for the extra detail that makes the difference.
English translation of the original Italian preface.
When I first met him, I immediately understood Davide Pisenti's professional stature in the world of firearms and shooting, especially as soon as I began listening to him explain, with clarity and ease, complex precision shooting techniques and safety procedures for the use of long guns to an audience of Precision Rifle Series (PRS) sport enthusiasts. His solid expertise in this specific discipline and the in-depth studies he has carried out over time in the many scientific subjects that are routinely intertwined in long-range shooting with rifles and carbines – the mechanics of the internal components of the firearm, the dynamics of projectile motion through fluids for external ballistics, the chemistry of propellant combustion and pressures for internal ballistics, optics for sight corrections, statics for rests and firearm supports, meteorology for the analysis of atmospheric conditions, materials science for the technological choice of equipment and gear, biomechanics for correctly assuming shooting positions, and so on – have always marked his high level of professionalism, which is why he is deservedly the Italian representative of PRS and President of the national movement connected to it.
However, Davide Pisenti's technical knowledge cannot be confined to the sporting field alone, since the PRS discipline has many clear points of contact with the use of long guns for precision shooting in the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement as well. Where operational needs called for his well-known and deep expertise in the field, he was appointed co-director of recent courses and refresher training for designated marksmen of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Carabinieri, contributing significantly to raising the shooting standards of the service members who took part. Above all, these courses were also attended by operators from Special Forces units, for whom the presence of the Sniper in the team is "mission essential", a safety condition in a great many special military and police operations against complex objectives or in highly critical situations.
And it is precisely in the narrowest and most confidential sphere of the Defence Special Forces that the experience and passion of a "civilian" stood out: a man who did not limit himself to handing out mere notions and checklists to codify procedures, but provided scientific explanations and evidence useful to many skilled marksmen, without interfering in technical-tactical matters or in the terminal effects of the various calibres on the target. In doing so he effectively standardised and refined individual firing tables according to the different ammunition, and taught how to get the most out of the ballistic software on the market to speed up precision and responsiveness in long-gun shooting at considerable distances, on multiple targets or at prohibitive shooting angles. There was never any claim to discuss tactical procedures of stealth approach, stakeout, stalking, concealment or retrograde, but rather a focus on rapid target engagement, on reading the most influential environmental factors and on the effectiveness of the "first-round" shot. The response, in terms of performance and technological leap in the choice and use of various systems and equipment, was truly significant, also because Davide Pisenti never presented himself as a teacher of a specialised professional subject, but as the bearer of a mindset and of new techniques, often borrowed from the aviation world he comes from, where he served for many years as an Airline Captain and Flight Instructor, which quickly improve the skills of any military or police marksman.
Therefore, this brief contribution of mine is not written merely to serve as a preface to a very rich and comprehensive field manual – to use a quintessentially military term to describe the technical guide on PRS written by Davide Pisenti – but is the sincere thanks of an "old soldier" like me, who has spent decades in the Special Operations community and has seen a bit of everything at home and abroad, to a great professional who has placed all his knowledge and know-how at the service of so many security operators of our country, for whom a quick empirical trajectory calculation and a second saved in taking up a firing position during an operation make the difference between life and death for their colleagues, or ensure the safety of a high-ranking official or the success of a mission.
